Hollingworth Lake Sailing Club

The results of racing at Hollingworth Lake on Sunday 14 April held a surprise. Richard Marsh, usually at the helm of an RS400, with his wife as crew, chose a Topper dinghy this week, racing against his daughter Jessica in another Topper.

Richard’s experience of sailing in many different dinghies showed as he won the first race by a considerable margin in the fresh westerly breeze. Jessica came second narrowly ahead of Julian Parry in a Laser.

There was closer racing in the second race which was won by Nick Brook in a Solo. He had very recently acquired a classic wooden Solo and proved that he could get back to winning ways in it. He beat Richard Marsh by 20 seconds after correcting for handicaps. Overall it was Richard’s day.

Racing also now takes place on Wednesday evenings which is proving popular.
